Date: - May 18, 2021
The Sharjah Public Library (SPL), an affiliate of the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), is livening up the itinerary of the upcoming Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2021) with a series of fun and educational workshops to stimulate the imagination and creativity of children of all ages.
On Saturday, May 22, ‘The Little Inventor’ workshop from 4 – 5 pm will turn children into inventors who will be stretching their curiosity and testing their collaborative and critical thinking skills to discover several STEM functions.
It’ll be all about focus and memory at ‘Create Your Mental Game’, a workshop designed to sharpen the focus of the young ones through the fun and entertainment of recycled games. This is the second SPL session planned for May 22, 5:15 – 6:15 pm.
The ‘Shopping Bag’ workshop scheduled for Sunday, May 23, 5:15 – 6:15 pm, will instill a love for the environment in children by showing them the significance of replacing harmful single-use plastic bags with reusable ones. What’s more, attendees will be creating their own eco-friendly bags from scratch!
At the next one titled ‘Al Buhais Geological Park’, 4 – 5 pm on Wednesday, May 26, SPL will engage visitors with a virtual journey to Al Buhais Geology Park to learn more about the region’s rich geological history that is home to millions of years old fossils.
All the workshops will be delivered face-to-face at the Kids Hall Workshop 6 at the SCRF venue, and offer limited seats, which need to be pre-booked by interested participants.
Taking place at the Sharjah Expo Centre from May 19 – 29, under the theme ‘For Your Imagination’, SCRF 2021 will bring 537 activities, which will be organised in both in-person and online formats, strictly in line with the UAE’s health and safety protocols.
